Ava Blackner: "A Serious Horse Addict"

Ava on her absolutely gorgeous horse.

Ava Blackner has a unique persona. She comes off quiet and shy but then once you get to know her, it's like her alter ego comes out. She's loud, talkative, and even pretty hilarious. So I guess that that's just another example of what can happen when you take the chance to get to know a person. And I think that she's just a little bit too obsessed with horses (then again, maybe I'm just a little too obsessed with Lana). I personally don't have that much experience with the majestic creature, but I do know that they are A+ companions. Like I think the only reason that Ava tries in school is so her parents won't take away her horse privileges.

When Ava is older she would love to live in the great state/peninsula of Florida. I can't live in Florida because I have curly hair and the humidity would make it look like a truffula tree. But the state is still absolutely wondrous! And I hear they have some pretty gargantuan alligators roaming the streets, so thats always fun. Plus there’s DisneyWorld and Universal Studios. Florida is also freaking gorgeous!

On another note, when Ava gets to that mature age she would either enjoy being an actor or a horse trainer. The acting business is a toughie, but I bet that she could make it. I think that we all could have guess that horse training is one her top job choices. But it still sounds like a fun job because you get to be surrounded by your favorite animal literally all day. But to be totally honest, I think that’d she be perfect at both jobs.

Ava's all time fav artist is the legendary band Fifth Harmony. Oh my gosh I love their music so much! It's like real good. She’s also really fascinated in classic cars. Classic cars are always so stylish and just simply fabulous. Like there’s always this element of simplicity that is just crazy good. And they’re fast too, maybe even faster than modern day cars.

A memory that Ava loves the most is the first time she rode a horse. I’m sure that that is a very special day for Ava because she discovered something that she was passionate for. I still remember the day when the idea clicked that I enjoyed cross country skiing. It’s something that can change your ideals in life. Like if Ava didn’t take that first ride with a horse, she would probably be a completely different person today.

One of Ava’s largest inspiration is the actor John Wayne. John Wayne is known as a star in Western Films. And he seemed like a pretty cool guy. I think that its cool that Ava is interested in people who lived in the early twentieth century.

A thing that Ava absolutely hates is taking tests. I also hate taking tests. I mean there is just so much pressure for you to do well. And I feel when you do bad on tests, so many people are disappointed in you. So I get it when Ava says that she dislikes taking tests.

All in all, Ava is one cool chick. I mean she’s funny, encouraged, and exuberantly nice. Everyone should become friends with her because of those reasons. Keep up your ambitions Ava, and never ever in a million years, give up.

Ava Hamilton: "A Spiritual Helper"

Ah, the mesmerizingly fantastic Ava Hamilton. A daughter of an airline pilot and of a flight attendant. She was born into an airborne family.  I met Ava back in sixth grade when we both had band together. The first thing I noticed was that she was extremely tall. (I was scared to approach her.) But thankfully for me we started talking and become almost instantaneous friends. She is sweet and warmhearted with a touch of sass.

During her almost endless free time (because her parents are always away), she engages in the following hobbies: reading her favorite books, listening or finding new and swaggy music, and of course slowly becoming a world champion softball player. She also partakes in karate and is currently a gold belt.

Ava’s all time dearest memory is the time that she went to her friend’s beach house. She was really young but doesn’t quite remember the age. She was with her best friend Cheyanna and basically what happened was that there was a tub of cookie dough. I think that you could guess what happened after they found it. Here’s a hint: they ate every last bit of uncooked yumminess. Ava and Cheyanna were also in a bathtub while gorging down the cookie dough. The next day, the two of them were throwing up their stomachs.

Ava is extremely music obsessed. I mean you always see her with an earbud in one ear. I bet that her playlist is nearly infinite. Currently her favorite bands consist of Abandon All Ships or Ghost Town. Apparently her bands change frequently.

One thing that Ava wants do when she’s older is to help people. But her best bet for a career choice is to do Reiki and card readings. So, Ava is connected with the spiritual side of things.

Okay this one is pretty cool. When she is older, Ava wants to live, "In a long sleeve weather, rainy, cloudy town.” Those were her exact words and I personally want to live in a place exactly like that description.

A word that Ava would use to describe herself is weird. Being weird is kind of what I’m all about. Not fitting in to the status quo and being a wallflower is literally what I live for. So being weird is actually amazingly awesome. Being weird is a perfect reason for befriending someone.

Ava hates the word perfect. I mean she hates that word. She claims that the word’s definition changes from person to person. But some things that Ava loves are cuddling, her dogs Duce and Roxy, and her friends. That should show you how loving she truly is.

Ava is literally the most loyal and kind friend that you could ask for. She can inspire your creative mind with just one word. Ava is an imaginative writer and can take your breath away using words. She can have an extremely positive impact on a wallowing life. Ava is a hard worker when she applies herself and can accomplish numerous things.

Parker Ivers: "The Swimming Engineer"

Here he is, the one and only Parker Ivers.  A swimmer/occasional mountain biker with a unique attitude. He’s a friend of mine that I have shared many memories with. For example, our English class last year with the terrifyingly fun Ms. Hooker.

I went to Lagoon with him and a couple of other friends once.  Parker and I were waiting in line for the tube slide thing and In the line we sassed a young girl who was being mean to her sweet innocent little brother. Parker and I decided to help the boy out and contradict his dictating older sister.

We were all like, “hey, stop being so mean to him.”

Apparently that made her mad and she responded with, “yo, get out of my face you old freaks.”

First off, we were only like a couple of years older than the girl and we were just trying to help the poor guy out. So then we continued to get the girl angrier and angrier until she finally went on the ride. We thankfully never saw her again.
Parker’s role model is his epic mom. Like seriously though she's super cool. Parker’s mom works in the front office at Ecker and She helps the kids who trickle in and out of the office with whatever they need.

His most praised hobbies include: swimming on the PCHS team, playing video games indefinitely, and watching his favorite shows and movies on the television. I have vivid memories of sleeping over at his house and watching his seemingly endless collection of movies. Parker’s favorite singer (following in the footsteps of a previous person on this blog) is Cher. Yes, the infamous Cher. Parker is also currently in Robotics Club so when he’s older he would love to be a robotics engineer.

Now, Parker’s all time favorite memory is when he finished his swimming race and saw that he made a state time. I know that feeling as well. The feeling of accomplishment and success. After finishing my own races and I see my time and place, a wave of happiness hits me. So I know what Parker means when he says that this is his favorite memory. It’s a feeling that you really can’t replace with anything else. Because for once you have accomplished something in this cruel and judgmental world.

One last thing, Parker is mentally insane about cats. He has dozens of cat shirts and cat trinkets. He has several cats of his own that he loves more than life itself. I swear that his world revolves around those cats. He practically knows everything to know about our feline friends.

Parker is a fantastic friend that will inspire all. He describes himself using the mundane word fun. I would rather use the word joviality. Parker is so much "fun" to hang out with and talk to. If you want a happy friend who will watch movies with you than he’s the guy for you.

Jacky Brian: "The Individualistic Artist"

A photo of Jacky. Photo courtesy of
Faith Staley.
Oh my goodness, it’s Jacky Brian. A dear friend of mine who I’ve shared many experiences with. Like the time we went to the beach! Okay it was a flooded baseball field, but it was still a blast! Anyway, Jacky is a fantastic person to be around and will fill you with laughter.

In Jacky’s free time she partakes in the following: writing in her ever so large journal, drawing awe-inspiring sketches, painting magnificent pictures, and of course listening to her endless music collection. She loves to express herself through many variations. And of course (like every other teenager these days) she watches Orange is the New Black regularly. She simply states that it’s basically her life.

Relating back to listening to music, Jacky’s biggest inspiration is the lead singer for one of our favorite bands: Green Day. She says that she loves how Billy Joe Armstrong is abnormally big on individuality and not conforming to society's ideals. She believes that is most likely the coolest thing ever and a fantastic lesson for life.

Jacky’s favorite memory (and also mine) is when we celebrated our friend Faith’s birthday. It was a day full of surprises that will last in my mind forever. I believe that we started at Jacky’s house and made piping hot cocoa and put the toasty liquid in a thermos. Then we walked the short distance to City Park and found a well-deserving spot next to Poison Creek and drank our hot chocolate with huge grins. Then Faith and I (being the hippies that we are) saw cans of beer in the creek. We both were determined to “save” the cans and recycle them. The first can was easy to reach in and frantically grab. But the second one was a different story. So in this particular spot there was a tree in the center of creek with very little land surrounding it. And right below that tree was where the disastrous can was located. So we came up with this innovative plan to hang on to the tree and reach for the can. I went first, but since I had no success Faith went next. Now remember that this was her birthday. She hung precariously from the tree and extended as far as she could. And then terror struck. She basically plummeted into the bone-chilling water. There is an ever so embarrassing video on Jacky’s Instagram if you want to check that out. Happy Birthday Faith!

Jacky is terrified of the future and has no clue about what she wants to be when she’s older. But she does know where she wants to live, Michigan. I don’t know much about Michigan but I hear that they have breathtaking cross country skiing. Lastly a word that Jacky would use to describe herself is individualistic. And let me tell you she is quite the individual. I have never seen Jacky cave into the status quo here at TMJH. She is truly unique and you won’t regret becoming friends with her.
